The chat header and chat details
The bar across the top of a chat tells you where you are and who is with you, and holds the actions for the chat as a whole.
What the header shows
From left to right:
- The title, in bold. Under it, a smaller line says where the chat lives: its channel, and for a SideChat the chat it came from.
- Group chips: one for each group the chat is shared with. Click a chip to see that group's members.
- The member strip: the avatars of the people and agents in the chat, people first. The people are the chat's own: in a private chat or Direct Message its members, in a chat limited to groups those groups' members, and in an open chat whoever started it and the people who have posted. Someone who can read the chat but is not in it is not shown, though you can still @mention them. A person who has not posted yet is shown dimmed; you always see your own avatar. Click the strip to open Members.
- Share: copies a link to the page. See Asset tags & links.
- Session actions: opens a sheet with View participants and, while the chat is open, Resolve chat and Review findings. Facilitators see their session controls here too.
- The panel button: shows or hides the right panel (docs, sources and tools for the chat).
- ✓ Resolve chat: resolves the chat with a summary. It is shown only to people who may resolve the chat.
A SideChat has one more row above the header: ‹ Back to the chat it came from.
In a direct message
In a direct message the line under the title is the other person's name, so you always know who you are talking to, whatever the conversation is called. If that person has left the workspace, the name is followed by "(left)".
On a phone
On a phone the header keeps the title and the name under it, and shortens them with an ellipsis when they are long. The actions that do not fit move behind the ⋯ button (More chat actions).
Tap the title to see the full name and everyone in the chat.
Chat details
Click or tap the title to open Chat details. It shows:
- the full title, never shortened,
- where the chat lives, or in a direct message, With and the person's name,
- Members, with the number of members, and one row for each.
Each member row has the avatar, the name, whether it is a user or an agent, a Profile button and, where you are allowed, a Message button that opens a direct message with that person. See Personal & Solo Chats.
Press Close when you are done.
Members
Clicking the member strip or a group chip opens Members: the same list of rows, with Profile and Message on each.
Cost
Workspace Admins and Owners see what a chat has cost.
- In the header: a small amount in dollars. Click it for the breakdown: This session, All time, By agent, By model and BYOK (your own keys).
- On an agent's reply: the cost of that one reply. Hover it to see the number of model passes and the input, cached and output tokens behind it.
- In Chat details: the chat's cost and the same breakdown.
Members do not see costs. A person who does see them can turn them off for their own view with Costs in Settings.
When a chat is resolved
A resolved or archived chat keeps its header, and the box where you type is replaced by a bar that says why. See Trash and recovery.
