Links and videos
A link is a web page kept as an asset: a card with the page's title, description, site icon and preview image. You can find it in folders and search, and reference it with #refs like any other asset.
Type /link in the composer, paste a web page or a YouTube, Vimeo or Loom link, and optionally give it a title (the page's own title is used if you leave it blank). You can also ask an agent to add a link for you.
What the card shows
The server fetches the page's preview for you: its title, description, site name, preview image and site icon. The images are stored by LEMA Chat, so viewing the card never loads anything from the other site. If the preview cannot be fetched, the card still shows the link.
The page's title and description are the other site's text. They are shown as plain text only.
Videos
YouTube, Vimeo and Loom links play inline. The card shows the preview with a Play button, and the video only starts after you press it. YouTube plays through its privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie) player, and Vimeo is asked not to track you.
Rules
- Links must start with
http://orhttps://, use the standard web ports, be at most 2048 characters, and carry no username or password. - The server never fetches from private or internal network addresses. A link to one is kept, but gets no preview (and is not played inline).
- Adding links is rate limited: 20 a minute per person and 60 a minute per workspace.
- Guests and support sessions cannot add links.
In courses
A link or video can be a lesson activity (Add link or video). It plays inline in the lesson through the same card.
Agents
An agent adds a link as the person it is working for. When an agent reads a link, the page's title and description are marked as untrusted third-party text, so it treats them as data, never as instructions.
